Regarding an incident that took place on the 4th June, concerning an alleged act of misconduct by an on-site meter reading agent acting on behalf of SmartestEnergy Business, we acted promptly with our CEO contacting the customer directly on the evening the incident was brought to our attention.

The next day we reviewed the evidence provided and acted to ensure our partner organisation removed the accused individual from their position and commenced a full investigation into the matter with our internal and external legal counsel. We are willing to support with any related police enquiries. 

We expect professionalism from any partner organisation we engage and will cease to work with partners who cannot uphold our high standards of customer service. We are focused on ensuring that misconduct of staff acting on our behalf does not occur in the future and are taking the necessary steps to review our ways of working and terms of reference to ensure our high standards of customer service are upheld by partners.
